Rubber hose components

Hose compounds must balance resistance to the conveyed media with pressure, temperature, flexibility, reinforcement and processing requirements. Grade review should cover the tube, cover and any separate compound functions.

Describe the hose system

The same hose type can require different compounds depending on the media and construction. Share the service conditions and current formulation reference before evaluating SBR or NBR options.

Conveyed Media

Specify the oil, fuel, water, air or industrial fluid and whether exposure is continuous or intermittent.

Service Conditions

Provide working pressure, temperature range, flexibility, abrasion and weathering requirements.

Construction and Process

Identify tube or cover use, reinforcement, extrusion or moulding process and the current grade.

Information to Provide

  • Hose type and compound position
  • Media and concentration, when relevant
  • Working pressure and temperature range
  • Required standards or finished-hose tests
  • Current grade, quantity and destination

Evaluation Note

NBR is frequently assessed for oil and fuel contact; SBR appears in selected general industrial hose compounds. The finished hose must be tested against its actual specification.
