Footwear compounds are selected around the soling process, colour, hardness, abrasion, density and finished-shoe requirements. SBR is commonly evaluated as a general-purpose base polymer for many rubber footwear applications.
Begin with the production route
Sheet, moulded and expanded soling processes can require different processing behaviour. Share the current grade and the tests used to approve the sole.
Process and Construction
Identify solid or expanded rubber, moulding method, layer structure and cure conditions.
Appearance and Wear
Clarify colour, staining limits, surface finish, abrasion and flexing requirements.
Commercial Evaluation
Provide trial quantity, regular demand, packing preference and destination for an availability review.
Information to Provide
- Sole or footwear component type
- Solid, sheet, moulded or expanded process
- Colour and staining requirement
- Hardness, density and test specification
- Current grade, quantity and destination
Selection Note
SBR grade choice is only one part of footwear performance. Fillers, oils, cure system and processing conditions must be assessed in a controlled trial.
