Seal and gasket compounds are selected around the media, temperature, pressure, movement and sealing design. NBR is often evaluated for oil-contact applications, while SBR may be considered for selected non-oil general-purpose uses.
Define the sealing duty
Share the fluid or gas, continuous and peak temperature, static or dynamic service, hardness target and any customer specification before comparing grades.
Media Exposure
Identify oils, fuels, water, air, chemicals or mixed service and the expected contact duration.
Mechanical Duty
Describe compression, movement, pressure, dimensions and the tests used to approve the finished seal.
Processing Route
Provide the moulding process, cure system approach and current grade so candidate materials can be evaluated practically.
Information to Provide
- Seal or gasket type and dimensions
- Contact media and exposure duration
- Working and peak temperature
- Target hardness and compression requirements
- Current grade, specification and trial quantity
Selection Note
Material family guidance is a starting point only. Compatibility and finished-part performance must be validated in the buyer’s compound and production conditions.
